I found myself getting far too complacent about caring for myself, and it was beginning to show. I looked worn down, and I felt worn down. Part of the problem was that I was so busy with work and my kids, that I felt that I didn’t have much time for self-care. I was also a little depressed, too. But then I realize that I needed to do something about making sure that I take care of myself. I bought some makeup, bath and body products, Crystal X and a few other things. I realized that no one else is going to make me feel good about myself, and it’s my job to do that.
My husband passed away a few years ago. Continue reading →
According to a Gallop poll, more than 50 percent of Americans take multivitamin supplements. The poll shows that multivitamin annual sales currently stand at a whopping $12 billion. With these figures, you’d be believe that multivitamins must be the new cure to cancer or some other serious disease. Yet, when you look at each multivitamin supplement closely, you’ll discover that what’s inside isn’t even worth half the hype.
Breaking down the multivitamin supplement consumption data, the Gallop report shows a significant generation gap in the consumption of these supplements. Among Americans aged between 18 and 29, only about 33 percent use the supplements.
But among people aged 65 or older, the consumption rate is nearly 70 percent. So, do these supplements help with healing or preventing some chronic diseases? Is that why older people (most at risk of catching diseases such as cancer) consume them more?
The American Heart Association isn’t convinced either. According to the association, even though certain vitamins have been proven to help in fighting certain diseases, cancer included, “there is only one way you can be sure that you’re getting the right vitamins and minerals – and that is through healthy foods.” Multivitamins aren’t considered healthy foods.

There are all kinds of beauty products. Just think of the major brands here. Then there are beauty products made in different countries around the world. Consumers here buy domestic and imported beauty products. It is a multi-billion dollar industry. People are driven to want to stay youthful looking. Genetics, exercise, exposure to the sun and exercise all play a part in how we look older as the years go by. Some people get wrinkles and lose hair early. Some do not. Skin care products probably top the list of beauty products. Collagen products such as Collaskin and others are used to help make up for the diminishing production of collagen in the skin as the years go by.
Look at a 20 year old and then someone who is in their forties. Then look at someone in the sixties and seventies. If you have multiple generations in your family, take notice of the skin of the young versus that of the aged. Looking at your mom’s skin will likely give you a good idea of how your skin will look as it ages. Continue reading →
People who have certain kinds of allergies are more likely to have asthma. Do you have allergies that affect your nose and eyes, causing stuff like a runny nose or red, itchy eyes? If so, you’re more likely to have asthma, too. Whatever causes the allergic reaction, such as pollen or dust, can also trigger asthma symptoms.
But not everyone who has allergies gets asthma, and not all asthma happens because of allergies. Huh? Allergies and asthma can be a little confusing, so let’s find out more.
About 7 million kids in the United States have been diagnosed with asthma. Many have asthma symptoms that are triggered by an allergy to something (called an allergen). In these people, the symptoms of asthma like wheezing, coughing, or trouble breathing are often brought on by being around allergens.
Allergies have a lot to do with your immune (say: ih-MYOON) system. Most of the time your immune system fights germs and bacteria to help you stay healthy. But in a kid with allergies, the immune system treats allergens (such as pollen)

Hard gelatin liquid filled capsules are used in the form of dosage by all pharmaceutical industries. The product was initially formulated in the form of powders or tablets. This technology of filling the capsules was originated in the 1980s. This was basically developed to give a competition to the soft capsules that already existed in the market. The advantages of these tablets were that it required lower moisture and less gas transmission in their production. They did not use harmful plastic coating and thus could be easily assimilated into the body. They did not require any preservation and hence the person could easily store them for a longer period of time. The capsule composition consisted of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose which was abbreviated as HPMC.
Process of manufacturing:
The process is straightforward and makes use of all the latest technologies that are used to fill the medicine inside a shell. The process involves mixing two drugs that are first molten and then blended well to fill inside the capsule. The liquid is then sealed with the help of shells that do not allow the liquid to flow out. It serves
There are many plants in the world which are very essential for making medicines. Their fruits, roots, and leaves everything is essential for various kinds of disease treatment and this process is followed from the beginning of medical science. Science has developed so much in these few years, especially medical science. Now the extracts of the plant organs are used to prevent various deadly diseases. Among them, one of the major is Flaxseed oil. It is derived from the seed of the flax plants.
Introduction – Flaxseed oil is enriched with fatty acid. Over 55% of the composition is omega 3 fatty acid. It is not used very much that’s why the benefits of the product are not known to everyone. It is filled with fiber and it contains a lot of amount of potassium. The whole flax seed is a popular food for chicken. The seed is seen to be used in baked products. The oil is sprinkled on breakfast and salads that’s how those become healthier.

This lady underwent the first hip replacement 24 years ago for a hip fracture. A total hip replacement was done but left the leg shorter as the hip was cited high above the center of rotation by the surgeon. She managed for twenty four years but this hip began to fail and she was unable to walk by the middle of 2014.
She underwent a revision hip replacement in a city hospital in June 2014. But again the surgeon failed to recognize that the previous hip was positioned abnormally. He repeated the same mistake of placing the socket way above the normal center of rotation. Additionally, years of plastic wear and an erroneous revision surgery had left a gaping hole in her pelvis. The revision hip replacement thus had the twin problems of abnormal position and lack of bone support.
The result was that this elderly but highly motivated lady was bedridden for three months after the second hip operation in June 2014.
Her case was shown to many doctors in the city but all refused to intervene and suggested to the family members that the lady
As we get older, it is perfectly normal to experience pain or aching, particularly in the joints of the body. As you age, the tendons and ligaments that hold your muscles and bones together, start to get a little worn out. One treatment for these painful and aching joints is known as osteopathic prolotherapy. Many people who previously suffered from many different types of pain, from lower back pain, to arthritis, to fibromyalgia, have found relief from their aches and pains using this type of therapy. This article is a guide to help you find out more!
What is Prolotherapy?
The term itself is actually a portmanteau of the words ‘proliferation’ and ‘therapy’. The proliferation refers to using a syringe to inject a non-active irritant solution into the affected area of the body. This solution then proliferates through the joint or affected area. As the body reacts to the irritant, it actually strengthens the ligaments, tendons, and connective tissue around the area of the injection site to relieve pain. Currently, the exact mechanism that allows this form of therapy to
Generic drugs are cheaper than their branded counterparts are. Consumers save billions of dollars every year when they opt for generic over branded medicine. These two types of drugs may be light-years away in terms of pricing, but they are identical in terms of chemical composition. With respect to their innovator counterparts, generic medications contain the same active ingredients, have the same indications, and are bioequivalent such that they have the same dosage, strength, and route of administration.
How similar are generic drugs to branded drugs?
Since generic medications are essentially similar to branded versions, they are equally effective in dealing with the symptoms that the patient presents with. Since they work in the same way, the patient can expect the same quality at a much lower price. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) can offer the assurance that generic medications have the same purity, strength, and stability as their branded counterparts.
How do drug patents work?
While the patent for the drugs are in effect, only the company that developed the drug can sell it. The patent is intended to protect the investments made by

Rabies is a well-known and widely-feared virus that is highly contagious and commonly carried by many species of mammal. Raccoon, bats, birds, dogs, cats, foxes, and are not only susceptible to the virus, but are common carriers of the disease. It is passed along and transmitted through the infected mammal’s saliva, either through bodily fluids, open wounds, scratches, or bites. If treatment is neglected, the Rhabdovirus is always fatal. Fortunately, modern advances in veterinary care allow us the opportunity to vaccinate our domesticated pets with a Rabies vaccine and protect them from contracting the fatal virus.
If an animal is bitten by a rabid mammal, and they have never been vaccinated, there is little hope for survival. But what about humans? Humans on the other hand can be treated before or after being exposed to the Rabies virus. There are stringent vaccination schedules that must be properly implemented in order for the medicine to be effective. Continue reading and review the general Rabies vaccination schedule for humans, pre-exposure and post-exposure.

If you have ever experienced a muscle spasm down the back of your leg, or pain or numbness radiating from your hamstring, you may suffer from piriformis syndrome. Although the piriformis is a very small muscle lying deep in the musculature of your hip, it can put an end to your running regimen, and even make it painful even to walk. If you think you may be suffering from this condition, here is a brief explanation of the symptoms and their cause.
The piriformis is a small short piece of muscle tissue buried deep within the muscles of the hip, and runs from the pelvis to the top of the femur. The primary purpose of the muscle is to rotate the leg externally when the hip is extended, and rotates the leg internally when the hip is flexed. The most important purpose of this muscle is to rotate the knee outward when running and walking to give your body more stability.
However, the problem with this muscle lies in the fact that it lies immediately next to the sciatic nerve.

- Any symptoms you are having
• Your health history. It is said that keeping a “health journal” is a good idea. This is something you can bring to your appointments because it is often difficult to remember everything you have done.

In the process of preparation of potencies of the drug substances related to liquid, three scales are made use of. One of these scales is centesimal potency, which comprises of more than 90% medicines used in homeopathy. When the potencies are prepared from the solid substances, mostly a decimal scale is used. The trituration needs to attain a potency of 6x in order to get fit into the category of liquid potency and get treated subsequently. After 6x, when it is converted to liquid dosage form, it is usually prepared in centesimal potency.
Information on Centesimal Potencies
The scale of centesimal is largely based on the sole principle that the first and foremost potency must contain the hundredth part of the drug that is original and also each of the succeeding potencies. The designation of the scale is done by suffixing the letter ‘CH’ or ‘C’ to the number that indicates the potency. Thus the first potency will be called 1CH or 1C. This will be followed by 2CH or 2C. Thus it can be assumed that the number of the potency will be suffixed before the particular

Let’s be honest. Most of us probably try to spend as little time as possible at the pharmacy. We dread waiting in line to pick up prescriptions, and assume that the professionals working there pretty much only dispense pills and hand over prescriptions. This couldn’t be further from the truth! As time passes and technology advances, pharmacies continue to add more and more services to make their customers’ busy lives as easy as possible. Read on for some of the services you may not have known you could get at your local drugstore.

The body’s stress response system is a powerful chain reaction of enzymes, proteins, and neurotransmitters, enabling it to respond to emergencies or danger. Renin (from the kidney) changes angiotensinogen (from the liver) into a protein, angiotensin 1. Angiotensin converting enzyme (from the lungs) changes the protein into angiotensin 2 which causes blood vessels to contract and speeds the heart rate. But what benefits the body in a crisis can harm it in the long run.
A steady supply of angiotensin 2 leads to high blood pressure (hypertension). In the 1960s, ACE inhibitors were developed to prevent the formation of angiotensin 2. It causes the heart rate to slow and blood vessels to relax, enabling blood to safely flow through the body. This removes unnecessary stress from the heart and kidneys, allowing them to function as they should.
Side effects are common among all drug classes. Common to ACEIs are swelling of tissue below the skin (angioedema) and a dry cough. ACE inhibitor cough occurs in less than 20 percent of those taking ACEIs, primarily blacks and women. Nitric oxide, anti-inflammatories, iron, and other treatments may
